About Us

We are a group of individuals and families in the Winona, MN area that share a desire to improve our community and natural environment using native ecology as a framework by which to reimagine prevailing agricultural and land management models. Our founding members come from varying backgrounds, educations, degrees and experience including biology, ecology and animal science. We all share a passion for implementing strategic shifts in how we steward our land, grow our food, and in becoming more responsible consumers. We see ourselves as filling a niche role within the broader umbrella of regenerative agriculture by focusing on reintegration with native ecology.

Cataloguing the native flora and fauna as it rebounds within the ecological restoration process is exciting and addictive. Sometimes we even get the privilege of observing threatened and endangered species re-appearing within our landscape! Documenting the actual work of landscape restoration and maintenance helps to tell the story of how far we have come, and helps to provide a vision for where we are headed. Photography is also an activity that nearly everyone can participate in, one that often initiates a relationship with the surrounding landscape and serves as an introduction to local biodiversity.

Resources

The core of what we want to achieve through Restoravore is the education and mobilization of community members. Most people do not know where to start in the management their own property or how they might be able to adjust their business goals to better align with environmentally restorative processes. Whether this includes the removal of invasive species, managing livestock within native ecosystems, creating backyard pollinator plantings, performing prairie/savanna reconstruction or some other related endeavor, we want to help provide you with the directions, tools and assistance you need in order to succeed.

Let’s Talk About Restoration.

We’re advancing restorative land use practices that reintegrate communities with native ecology and we’d love to speak with you about it.
